Hello.

I am currently a happy owner of a Miglia TVMax (V1, not the newer V2). It has worked very well for me, starting with my Dual 1Ghz G4 up to my Mac Pro 2.66 Quad I'm using now. I am also a subscriber of DirecTV. After purchasing a Remote Blaster for EyeTV, it has been a sweet setup.

However, I have just upgraded to DirecTV's HD package and am in somewhat of a qwuandry. I know I'll be able to continue recording Standard Definition programing with my new receiver (it has among other things standard composite connections), but I'm looking at what I would need to record HD programing to my Mac Pro (where I hope to be able to compress it with QuickTime to a smaller MP4 file).

Suggestions have been all over the map. Apparently El Gato has some device that will record Over The Air HD broadcasts, but only through Coaxial cable, not the higher quality Component I would like to use (Because of HDCP concerns, quality, etc. I want to use the HDMI connection with my Flat Screen TV).

So, basically I guess my question is how do I record HD video from my DirecTV systems Component outputs. A follow up question would be is there anything like that the integrates with EyeTV (I come to be very fond of it).

Thank you in advance.

I really like the SlingBox Solo for HDTV capture... plus you can watch from anywhere.
