Yes it will work fine; DVI-I or DVI-D doesn't matter. Why would the monitor cable have a female connector? With few (intentional exceptions), all DVI devices are female and all DVI cables are male. The easiest way to connect your cable box is to buy the 2408WFP instead, which has many more input options. I'm sure you can obtain an s-video to VGA adapter, but they're not cheap. You can convert the L/R audio to the minijack that the sound bar needs with a very cheap adapter.

thanks for the help, but the 2408wfp is pretty pricy. I think im going to go withe the westinghouse L2410NM. Then I can connect the cable box via s-video and get a DVI-d to HDMI adapter to hook the macbook up. And I the westinghouse has built in speakers (i know there not the best but w/e), so i can take the RCA L/R audio out of the cable box directly into the tv inputs without any conversion. I think this setup should work...

The Westy L2410NM looks like a great display for your needs. Enjoy.

The Westinghouse will almost certainly be a TN panel instead of an S-PVA panel (which the Dell should be), if you care about that.

The ACD doesn't really meet your needs, since it only has DVI input.

The Dell E-series are TN panels.

I thought we were comparing it to the 2408wfp, which is S-PVA.

Except where the OP's original link was to the E-series and he rejected the 2408 as being too expensive.

Yes, the current 23" ACD will work with any recent vintage (last 2 years... maybe longer depending on model) Dell desktop (or very very recent laptop with HDMI).
