Hello,
I'm looking for an external hard drive/storage device to connect to my iMac running on OS 10.3.

I am looking to store movie files (DV, .avi, iMovie projects) and music files (GarageBand, ProTools) on it. Perhaps photos as well.

I am looking for:
- reliability
- relatively fast speed of transfer
- ability to transfer files of several gigabytes
- value for money

Any advice would be much appreciated,
Thanks
Dan

Is there some way that the previous hundreds of threads on external hard drives have failed to meet you needs?

OWC and newegg is a place to shop. Might want to concider a multi drive set up so you can do backups too. With the multidrive set up, you can put whatever you want as your needs grow. Hitachi drives are good. I just grabbed a 1TB for 250 with a 30 dollar rebate from OWC.
