Hi guys

I inherited an Epson Stylus Photo 2100 that recently went to the service centre for clogged print heads. It was supposedly repaired (technician did a test print on a postcard) but I have not used it since because it is just so expensive to print with it.

I wanted to avoid getting clogged print heads again so I took out the printer for test printing just now.

On both Mac OS X and Windows 2000 and with both USB and FireWire, the printer appears to have accepted the print job. It makes a lot of noise, but never loads the paper or present any errors. On the software side, both Mac OS X and Windows do not detect any error either.

What could be up? Is it time to send it back again?

You should consider yourself lucky, as many Epsons won't even make lots of noise before they fail to print.

Most noise is charging the heads with ink. Once my Epson had a paper jam and made some weird noises without doing anything until I cleared the jam.

I really doubt it's a paper jam because no one has touched it since it returned from the service centre and because it absolutely refused to feed anything in.
Unlikely to be charging the ink either, as it did it like 7 times in a row and everytime a print job was sent.

@MichiganRich: Haha! I guess you're the glass-is-half-full sort of person

I guess I'll have to send it back in again.

Anyhow, thanks lots for the reply! Please keep them coming if you have any more ideas!
