I have a 755p treo and a imac (leapard). I can setup a trusted pair and do a sync with missing sync. The next time it says port is in use with another app. I then remove the trusted pair from palm and reset it up and it will work one more time. Anyone come across this ??

Sometimes I have to delete the bluetooth connection off the mac and then reset the treo to get it to work.

A help text to missing sync just states that it is a bluetooth problem and not their program/problem.

Strange but I did a hard reset and synced contacts data etc.. and everything is fine. Started putting programs back on and everything is fine until I start to load a free file manager filez
and it gets a conflict with some files. have not loaded it and haved synced 4 to 5 times no problems.

I have given up syncing my Palm. It was just too much crap going on all the time.

I'm done with it, my next "PDA" will be either an iPod touch or an iPhone. No more Palm.

plunker, I have experienced similar difficulties with my Treo 680 and my Macs (both Tiger and Leopard). Sometimes for no apparent reason I get the port is in use error too. No fiddling with settings on the Mac, with the Bluetooth connection, or with the pairing can resolve the problem. In my experience the only thing I can do in such a situation is reboot my Treo. A simple warm reset will do, you don't have to remove the battery, etc.

It's a royal pain and it really does suck, but at least this way I can eventually sync over BT.

QFT. I have had Palms ever since the Newton got canned and I have had about four Treos up to now. I am done with them. They are expensive and yet have poor build quality. The OS is an unstable mess (you have even less logging and debugging possibilities than under Windows!). And quite frankly the developmental effort is seriously lagging behind.

My next PDA will be from Apple. Probably an iPod touch (I'd get the iPhone if it could get it w/o a plan).
