Hi guys,
I wanted a good Bluetooth mouse and was hovering between the Mighty Mouse and the Logitech V470. Finally bought the MM as I was told I can return it within 2 weeks if not satisfied. 1st day was tough, then I got used to it but was still a compromise. So I bought the V470 which is just great!!! I am returning the MM back to Apple...
I will not go on about how great is the Logitech V470. Same day that I got the V470 i was fiddling with the Smart Scroll application that gives you scrolling similar to the one you find with the Iphone. Only problem was that the scroll will on the V470, like most scroll wheels have this stepping feeling or clicking to it and I was going to remove this!
The combination of Smart Scroll together with the spring-less V470 (or any spring-less mouse for that matter(?)) is awesome.
You can easily make the scroll wheel feel super-smoooooth if you remove just one spring from the mouse and below I put the super-easy instructions. Sorry for having only on photo of the process but only thought of posting this after I put the mouse back together - however the process is VERY easy. OK, you will void the warranty of the mouse by doing this but you will have to really try to wreck the mouse (tip - don't use a hammer).
1. Remove the 6 screws (see pic). Two of them are located below the front sliding pads -make sure you don't spoil the sticky glue!
2. Remove upper part of the mouse to reveal the wheel
3. Gently remove the spring (there is only one spring inside the wheel)
Put the mouse back together (don't forget to stick back the sliding pads)
Enjoy super smooth IPhone-like scrolling
D
