OK,

I know this type of thread has been posted many times. So I apologize in advance. I am looking for a good, reliable, comfortable wireless mouse for my MacBook Pro (bluetooth or dongle is fine -- except none of those big dongles).

BUT, I don't want a dinky small notebook type of mouse. I would like a desktop size mouse, or at least close to it.

I have a Microsoft Notebook 5000 Bluetooth, but it is just too small for my everyday use.
(Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 (WindowsMacintosh) 69R-00001 at TigerDirect.com)

I was thinking the MX Revolution, but I have heard problems on Mac with it.

So then I got to thinking about the VX Revolution. It looked perfect, but I can't gauge it's size very well. I think it is bigger than the Microsoft Notebook 5000, but I am not 100% sure.

Any advice here? Or if there is a better mouse for me than the VX Revolution, I am definitely open to suggestions.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply!

So you have had good luck with it on the Mac?

If I don't really need the extra buttons, and just want to use the MX for basic clicking and scrolling, will I be OK? Will I need to even install any software?

For me, bluetooth is where it's at. If you've got it built-in, use it. The Revolution mice are not bluetooth yet, so you'll be using a dongle. I'd expect the Revolution BT soon though: Logitech's MX Revolution goes Bluetooth at the FCC - Engadget

I have a MS Notebook 5000 Mouse as well. I agree it's rather small for my hands, but it's on a second machine that doesn't require much mousing around, so I'm okay with it. MS recently released a larger bluetooth mouse: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mo...s.aspx?pid=084
Check it out, it could be nice.

I alternate between the BT Mighty Mouse and the BT Logitech MX1000, which came with the Cordless Deskop MX5000. I don't use the keyboard at all but just wanted the BT mouse, which isn't sold seperately.

IMHO, the MX1000 is the best mouse Logitech ever made. I never really liked the shape of the MX Revolution (which is now available in BT as part of a keyboard/mouse combo).

If you get a Logitech mouse for use in OS X, I recommend you purchase Steermouse to use as your driver; Logitech's OS X drivers are, to put it nicely, as bad as Vista.

to use the scrolling feature you do not need to install anything, you just click the wheel and it changes. at times its gets in a mid cycle (half smooth half reg) however, you just switch the off and on button and thats it.
other than that there are no problems

Perhaps so with the scrolling, but the back/forward buttons won't work correctly, for instance: they'll do Exposé functions by default, IIRC.
