Hi,

I just bought an Apple Cinema Display 20" from someone. It is pretty much new -- never been used and only taken out of the box once. It was bought back in December 2007.

When the monitor was originally bought at Best Buy, the owner also bought the 4 year extended warranty. And that gets transferred to me.

1. So, does that mean I don't need to / shouldn't purchase AppleCare as well?
2. As an aside, since the monitor was bought in December 2007, does that mean I have the latest and greatest incremental updates to the 20" monitor (i.e. it is not exactly the same monitor as it was in 2004 when it came out, right?)

Thanks.

HOW did you buy it ? On eBay ?
Well, seems like you did NOT pay a lot of attention to what you bought.

I hope you're getting the latest model, but just because it was purchased in Dec 07 doesn't necessarily mean that. This could have been an older model that was on sale.

But yeah, highly unlikely it's gonna be a 2004 monitor.

I am not sure I understand what you mean about "NOT" paying attention to what I bought. I know what I was buying based on all of the information I had at the time.

I think that purchasing Apple Care under these circumstances would be wasteful; my experience with Best Buy warranty has been positive.
All the best

I'd agree with Ed on this one: monitors are much simpler beasts than computers, the Best Buy service option already has you covered, taking AppleCare in addition really has little to no value for you. Plus whatever saving you made on the second owner display would be offset by the price of AppleCare.
