I have a bootcamp'd XP partition, but it's only 32GB and I have programs like ProTools, Cubase SX, Dark Age of Camelot which are taking up a lot of space. I have about 3GB left on the drive, which slows down read and write speeds. How efficient is it to run these programs from a USB 2.0 drive? I know Firewire is a lot better, but I have a 250GB external drive that runs on USB 2.0 I'd like to have the Windows Partition as free as possible.

In terms of running the application, there shouldn't be too much of a speed issue, unless you're constantly working with the files on the USB drive. I put most of my games on an external hard drive, and the only slowdown I get is during the load sequences (e.g. new campaign/stage/environment), but during run time it's not much of a deal since the application has been loaded in memory.
