Well folks I don't have a printer right now (had been using old Canon inkjets because the ink on eBay is $30 for 24 cartridges and the printers, although slow, are sorta cheap). But this is ridiculous. We're almost in 2009, and everyone's going either Color Laser or BW Laser + color jet. But after searching all over online and in this forum, I have found that no one has a recent (note: recent) side-by-side-...etc. comparison for the best cheap color laser printers (er, say under $100). The reviews that I found online are all outdated, and I need updated information.

Apparently HP's 2605dn leaves black streaking on many models, and also I can't trust HPs support because of all the random "We don't support Vista" or "Windows-only" complaints.

Okidata is out of my price range.

I've heard some mixed things about Brother printers.

I don't give two blueberry muffins about a copier, a scanner, a phone, a modem, a fax, or any of that kind of junk with a printer (I already have a phone, a scanner, a copier (my scanner), a DSL modem, and I don't use fax)...so, I just need a color laser printer without the stupid problems that is like no more than $100-$200 (with Toners).

(P.S. The first person who recommends the HP Color LaserJet 1600 gets my foot up their arse.)

I'd be surprised if you got something decent for under $100 or even $200...

HP Color LaserJet 3600N ($240) is my pick, and it's high enough in the model range that it should have the "doesn't support OS foo" problems that they create with the bottom of the barrel models.

I have seen extremely bad reviews with this printer on Amazon (has streaking/residue comparable to the 2605dn and has a high likelihood of one or more mechanical failures). And, yes, it doesn't support Vista, so I can't trust that one day, HP will drop OS X support randomly for this printer.
