Hi all - first time posting here, so I hope you are all as helpful as you seem from lurking!

I was given a TV tuner for my Mac. It is a Pinnacle HD Mini for Mac, which is here:Link

So I go home and plug my tv cable from the wall into the USB tuner, and I plug the tuner in. The tuner comes with EyeTV software for playing the video. But I can't get any cable channels. Here's what happens:

When I scan for via Antenna, I get CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, and the CW, and I get the HDTV versions (looks damn good).

When I scan for "cable" I get zero channels. Nothing.

I have used the physical cable before - I had a TV tuner on my old desktop last year and it worked perfectly, plugged directly in to the tuner, just like now. When I try to go to "manually add digital channel" it gives me a list of about 125 digital channels to add, but on all of them it says the signal quality is 0, but the signal strength is fine.

I can't figure out why I can't get cable channels. Any ideas?

Supports both digital over-the-air TV (ATSC*) and unencrypted digital cable TV (ClearQAM**)

* ATSC, the new digital broadcast standard, is now available in many areas of the United States. ATSC reception is dependent on many factors. The provided antenna will allow reception in areas where there is a good ATSC signal. In regions or rooms where the signal is not strong, an amplified rooftop antenna will be required. It is generally not possible to receive an ATSC signal while in motion (e.g. in a car or train). Please consult with your local reseller or go to www.antennaweb.org for more information on areas covered and optimizing your reception.

** Unencrypted digital TV (ClearQAM) can be received with a standard cable TV connection at no additional fees. The reception of encrypted digital premium channels is not supported.
Do you have ClearQAM in your cable connection?

Doesn't that just mean unencrypted digital channels?
