I could swear Steve told us that the dual driver headphones with remote were going to be $79. I think they were even listed as $79 on apple store but now I am seeing $128. So much for that purchase.

They're $79 on the US store. Your link is for the Singapore Apple Store.

Snap, how did that happen?

Kind of like I am always getting the mobile myspace page on my MacBook.

Interestingly, the headphones are about 13 dollars cheaper for us. Seeing that they come from that part of the world you would think that it would be the other way around.

13 Singapore dollars, that is.

They're just under US$ 8 cheaper for you, and about US$ 5.50 of that is the Singapore sales tax.

And they come from China, not Singapore. Per-unit shipping cost difference to the US or to Singapore via container freightship for an item like those headphones is negligible.
