Is it possible, when logged into your AppleTV via secure shell, to issue a command to download a certain track/show/movie from iTMS? Sometimes family members are watching "regular" tv (shocking, I know), and it would be nice to get on one of the other Macs in the house that are part of my WLAN and download something I'm planning to enjoy once the kids are safely in bed.

That would only work if there were a command line version of iTunes.

you could just VNC and go about the download as if you were sitting in front of the computer.

Why not browse iTunes over VNC/ARD, and then trigger an iTunes sync?

There's no CL version of Photoshop, either -- but there is Image Events/SIPS -- therefore, perhaps something like a "Music Events" suite, a limited sets of iTunes-like commands -- would do the trick.

Can I use VNC with AppleTV, though? I thought I could only do that with another Mac.

it takes some technical work, but it is possible:
