I know this must be simple, but I have never done it. My DVD player broke and I thought I could watch a movie on my TV using my MacBook. I have a miniDVI-VGA cable and a VGA extension to my TV, but I don't get a picture on the TV, just the MacBook.
Thanks for any help.

Did you change input settings on the TV?

If you've made sure you're on the right TV input, you may need to switch resolutions on your MacBook.

I did connect with VGA/Composite, but I had the TV running as a monitor for the MacBook, but couldn't get the movie to appear on the TV.

By default, your MacBook will mirror to an external monitor. Big Mac meant for you to switch your MacBook resolution down to something the TV could handle.
