I bought a new HDD to replace one in our server and it sometimes sounds like a cricket. Most of the time I can't hear it.
S.M.A.R.T. says the HDD is fine. Anyone know if this is normal? I've never heard this sound before except on really old HDDs.

I am of the opinion, especially with hard drives, that it is better safe than sorry. Perhaps give the manufacturer a call or just bring it back to exchange wherever you bought it.
