Hi! I have a 200 GB Maxtor external drive that I used to transfer photos from my Mac to a friend's PC. I formatted it as FAT32 in Disk Utility then backuped the files via FireWire 400.

When my friend plugged it in her Vista laptop via USB, nothing appeared.. The computer sees the drive as a storage device, but it doesn't appear to see a volume. I thought I had make a mistake when I formatted it so I brought it back with me. I tried to make it work with my PC laptop running Vista but it didn't see anything either. I then tried on my Mac via FireWire and no volume gets mounted...

The drive always worked flawlessly and I'm sure nothing happened to it after I transferred the files (it wasn't dropped or exposed to water). What could I do to see if there's something on the drive? It seems to spin alright (albeit quirter than before, I think) when I power it.

Thank you!
