I've recently heard of Pogoplug. Basically it's a small USB computer with a rather powerful ARM cpu (reputedly clocked at about 1 GHz). You connect harddrives to it (if you want to connect more than one, you have to use a USB hub) and then the drives are available as network drives and via the internet. Apparently they have started a beta program and I was wondering whether one of you has made any experiences with them? Looks like a cheap way to make a poor man's NAS. I'd be interested in one, but they don't allow people from outside of the US to preorder them.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I'm guessing the performance is somewhere between glacial and molasses.
Mac update estimates: MacBook Pro 1Q10 (quad core Nehalem [Clarksfield]); MacBook 1Q10 (Arrandale); MacBook Air 1Q10 (Arrandale LV); Mac Pro/Xserve 1Q10 (6 core Westmere, 64+GB RAM); iMac 3Q10 (quad core everywhere); Mac mini 2010

I found pogoplug via an article on new ARM cpus which are supposedly a lot faster than what is used in current-gen NAS. Now, USB will limit your performance anyway, but if you get anywhere close to 20 MB, I think that counts as something.

However, I was asking specifically to find out about performance, for instance.
