I have a 20" iMac running 10.5.6 and a HP Photosmart C6180 All-in-One printer. My printer often (once a day or more) will not print, just collects docs in queue. In order to get printer going again, I have to close down printer, disconnect power and restart computer. This is a time-consuming nuisance, and I may have open windows that I don't want to shut down at that point. Are there printers that are more compatible with OS 10.5.6? I want duplex printing and would like to be able to easily print postcard size, envelopes, etc. as well as decent photos. This model is not friendly to printing odd size documents. I also need legal size scanning ability which this does not have. I am not partial to HP. Forgot to mention that I am connecting wirelessly. I have never had that problem using my PowerBook to print wirelessly with this printer. Still don't have a problem.

Having experienced a recent HP printer problem with 10.5.6, I solved it by completely deleting the printer, then downloading and installing the latest print driver from HP.

I'll try that, but wouldn't one think that HP Help would have suggested that instead of various shut down methods?

HP's All-in-One printers have lots of problems. Try seres' idea, that's solves it 90% of the time.

If you want fast duplex printing, I'd suggest getting a laser printer and use your HP for photos. Lasers are far cheaper than inkjets in the long run and a lot faster.

I have a Canon MX850 that works perfectly with OS 10.5.6. Easy to set up and use and I have several custom paper sizes and have had zero problems. It's also much quieter than my old HP 6110.
