My powerless Apple mouse (also called: the mighty mouse) is peeping on its last breath, and I won't get another one.

Which one is a good one? (I'm sick of this constant getting stuck of that tiny apple mouse track ball).

I exclusively use the mouse for the scroll wheel to scroll pages up and down.

I use a wacom tablet and its pen for cursor movement and all other actions.

I never bought a mouse, as I always used Apple's mice.

But now they are fodder for the mighty cat.

So, what's the best replacement? Or should I get a trackball mouse? (seems overdoing it, as I only need up-down moves).

if all you need is the wheel, then just get some cheap logitech, unless you're picky about how the wheel behaves [incremental roll vs. smooth roll].

not all who wander are lost.

Logitech LX 3.

Inexpensive, sturdy, and very nice to hold. Requires absolutely no drivers on OS X.

I have two wireless Logitech V450 Notebook laser mice and they are great. Vertical and horizontal scrolling, very precise, and the batteries last at least 10 months. Great for gaming or day-to-day use.

10 months!?, whoa, how I wish my MX Revolution rechargeable Lithium-ion battery could last a tenth of that between charges. Amazing.

A great mouse with great extras like the horizontal scrolling. I leave mine turned on all the time, and have yet to replace the batteries.
