Hi everybody,

Another printer drivers issue. I recently purchased a used HP 1000 Series printer, not realizing that HP never released a driver for the Mac. I was able to find the following threads on this issue, but all of them are defunct.

http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=34977
http://forums.appleinsider.com/showthread.php?t=86205
http://discussions.apple.com/thread....art=0&tstart=0

Apparently there was a driver out there flowing around, but the sites that carried it are defunct and I can't seem to locate any new sources.

I tried the gimp drivers but the HP 1000 isn't supported. I'm completely frustrated!

If anyone could help, I'd really, REALLY appreciate it. I don't know what to do.

Thank so much.

The plain 1000 series isn't that good. I'd sell the printer, save you the heart ache and get a nice printer that is actually supported (which is pretty much any printer you can buy these days). If you want a cheap laser, I'd suggest you have a look at Brother or Oki, for instance. If you have a tad more to spend, have a look at Kyocera.

Support for the HP 10xx series is poor (especially the older models); there are a few models that work flawlessly, but the rest are a hassle.

Punt it and get an OSX compatible printer, like the P1006.

The 1300 series is smart and has postscript.
