I'm looking to add a 24" monitor or two in my office locations to run off my new 13" MBP. At home I may add a larger display for dual purpose: computer work & media center. I apparently have the option on some displays to connect my mini-display port to either a Display Port, DVI, or HDMI connection. Could use some input on which connection is preferable, and for what purposes - large screen, small screen, media, etc (if it makes a difference).

Thanks!

They'll all work equally well. I'd prefer a MDP-to-DisplayPort cable myself simply because it's your MBP's native format, so you won't have to have a bulky adapter hanging off the side of your machine. Also, my Dell 2408wfp seems to wake slightly faster from power-saving mode with DP than it did with DVI on my old MBP. I don't know if that means the monitor's native format is DP, whether it has something about the new MBP having a better video card, placebo effect, or what.

If the screen is over 1920x1200, then DP is less hassle. Most displays smaller than 30" are not, so it doesn't matter here.

For any of the 3 you'll need an adapter unless you buy Apple's 24", so there's no difference.
