I just bought a new mini running 10.5 and hooked up my wired Logitech Trackman Wheel. For about 30 minutes I had no issues with the new computer and my trackman, but now the trackman just doesn't work. It will freeze, jump, skip, and track up or down all on its own.
I installed, and later removed the LCC 3.0 software and driver, also tried the older 1.66 LCC, and no luck. Now with everything uninstalled, the trackman still acts retarded.
Has anyone else experienced this? Am I sunk with the Trackman?
Thanks,

Have you tried simply unplugging and plugging the mouse back in or trying a different USB port? Are you going through a hub or connecting directly to the computer? Try a direct connection. What other USB devices are connected? Try unplugging everything else.
Also try resetting the PRAM (hold command-option-p-r on boot until the boot chime rings twice).

Hi, I tried multiple ports, on the mini and the minimax external hdd, and the mouse simply doesn't work. I can try Steermouse or USB Overdrive, but all wanted to do in the past is set the scroll-wheel button to option-click. Now I'd just like the thing to work.
I'll try resetting PRAM, but its a band new computer...

Try the mouse on a different computer, make sure the mouse didn't coincidentally go bad when you bought a new computer.
Also, try putting a piece of paper under the mouse, see if it tracks.

Yea, tried both my Trackman Trackballs - they both work fine on my old mini and my Thinkpad but not the 10.5 machine.
As for paper, the trackmans use an optical marble, and I tried using them under wraps to see if there was any light pollution, but nada.
The Logitech Trackman trackball just seems to not work on 10.5, or at least 10.5.8 - its not that widely used a trackball, so I guess I'm out of luck unless the 3rd party drivers work. PRAM reset didn't solve anything.

The Trackman most likely appears as a regular mouse, supported by the regular drivers. Try booting from the OSX Install DVD, see if the Trackman works while booted there. If it does work, the problem may be a preferences setting intended for a different mouse. I once plugging in a mighty mouse to my G5. OSX used the MM prefs to reassign one of the higher buttons - very annoying when I went back to my Logitech.
Another possibility - connect the Trackman via a powered hub. Your new mini may be putting out slightly low voltage/current on the USB. Especially if the Trackman has any illumination.
