Do all-in-one printers print pictures as well as single-use printers? I'd also appreciate any recommendations for printers. My HP 1220C has died, and I have to replace it. I hear good things about Epson printers, but I also hear that the nozzles clog if not used frequently; and the fact is that I may work on a picture for a month before printing it. I've been reasonable happy with HP, but reading reviews, I can't find any printers about which people don't have mixed feelings. Many thanks for any advice.

Just say no to Epson.
Get a Canon. Others can give you model numbers.

I love my Canon MX850 and it prints beautiful photo's. I've had it for a couple years now. Used an HP AIO before that and had a lot of trouble with HP's software. The Canon was up an running with no software issues within a few minutes. That's only 1 guys opinion.

My Pixma MX-310 does excellent pictures. It also faxes and scans. My only (minor) gripe about it is that it takes a while to warm up before it starts printing. But it was less than $90 and gives me native scanning in OS X (Preview and Image Capture) so I'm certainly not complaining.

I agree with the Canon MX recommendation. I have been pretty happy wit my MX310. I think the 340 has replaced it, and it has WIFI plus a photo print app for the iPhone.

I always think the dedicated devices do a better job of printing photos, but with quality photo paper my wife's Canon multi-function does do an excellent job. If you compare them to the photos from the Canon ip4000 I use, you can see some quality difference but you have to look closely. Canon products do well by me.

Photo printers will always do a better job than non-photo printers at printing photos, but the MX line does photo printing pretty well.

My thanks to all of you who answered my questions. It sounds as if Canon is the way to go. What I forgot to mention is that I'm less interested in photos than in paintings that I create with Painter. Consequently, I'm interested in a printer that can handle paper larger than 8 1/2 x 11. Are there any Canon printers that can do that?
