I have it plugged into the wall, but there is no light on the front. The TV doesn't see it, no matter what I push on the remote, no light comes on the device.

It is plugged in correctly. Help?

Try plugging it into a different outlet before you assume the worst.

hmmmm ... mine's been a bit flakey lately. I'm thinking it's a sign that AppleTV 2.0 is coming soon.

Ever taken it apart to upgrade the hard drive or anything? Even if you haven't, you could always open it up to make sure nothing is obviously wrong. But if an tv dies, I don't know what can be done to fix it.

And we have a winner! Turns out that super cool expensive surge protector from Best Buy needs to be reset whenever there's a blackout in the area, otherwise some stuff might not work (guess what didn't work in this situation )

Thanks to all, especially Big Mac, and woot for AppleTV working again!!! (Yes, I realize I'm probably the only person on Earth who actually <3s the current AppleTV)

As I have time and funds, I've been migrating away from surge protectors and putting my stuff on UPS. Much more utility than surge protectors.

Jackpot! Glad to help. I've been bitten enough times by not trying simple solutions while troubleshooting that I now make sure to go to them first.
