So I bought this Mini-DV-HDMI adapter from Monoprice (http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...1&format=2) to watch movies etc on my 42" Aquos and I can't seem to get audio from my MBP to my TV.

I know the adapter does not carry audio... so I had this old audio cable that goes into the audio jack and the other ends are RED + WHITE which used years ago to record mix tapes back in the 90's lol.

Anyway the cord im using could very well be shot, so is there another way to get sound from my MBP and onto my TV? The picture quality is amazing and watching 720p movies is probably better than my dvd player and just as good as blu-ray.... kinda.

any help would be great.

In the manual for the TV does it say it accepts RCA audio with HDMI video? Are the RCA audio jacks you plugged in to even associated with the HDMI port on the TV?

yes they are associated, found within the same outline bubble as the HDMI jack.

I will check the RCA audio in the manual tomorrow. But i think i have to adjust the the input of the source on my aquos.. but no where in the settings does it say where it has to get its sound from. or if its default. im sure if i had a receiver hooked into my tv it would be a lot easier.

Yes, you have to associate an audio input port with the HDMI input. Some TVs have this setting as something like "PC audio".
