I have a couple HP Officejet 6110 printers that I've been using happily for years... have been connected to an old Mac running 10.4.

I wanted to move one to my daughter's mac running 10.5. It appears HP won't let the software install on 10.5. Some on the internet claim the software works fine... its just the installer that won't let it install. (HP's attempt to force people to buy new printers, evidently.)

Any advice on how to work-around this? (Fake being 10.4 temporarily?)
Any advice on how to copy over the installation from the 10.4 machine?
Other options?

(And yes, this will lead me to NEVER again buy HP printers... rather than buy a new one. Hope HP is happy.)

Thanks.

I have given up on HP many years ago. I didn't like their business model for ink jets at all.

The Officejet 6110 is supported by the Gutenprint driver in 10.5 (and 10.6) There is no need to try and install HP's drivers. They most likely aren't written for 10.5, which is why the install fails.
