Hey all I've been trying to pick out my next monitor. Now that I have my 13 inch Pro, I find myself wishing my 21.6 inch Samsung LCD was a bit nicer, slash more vibrant. I'm leaning heavily toward Samsung for my next external monitor, but I found trying to color match even my old MacBook with the Samsung I have was really hard.

Any suggestions?

If you aren't trying for a bigger monitor, and mostly want the colors right - try a hardware color calibrator. You might be surprised how good your monitor looks calibrated.

If color accuracy is important, you want an IPS panel. For modern Macs with DisplayPort/Thunderbolt ports, a DisplayPort-equipped monitor is probably a good idea as well. Dell and HP both have some great IPS monitors with DP on them — I'd probably get one of those.

Any Apple display will be good, but expensive. I have an HP ZR24W and it's a good monitor. 2nd generation S-IPS display (no color shifting) at a reasonable price.
