Got a ps3 slim and a 2TB western digital external Mac drive(which has that annoying smartware software).
I transferred all my content onto the drive via my MacBook with no problem at all. The problem arises when it's plugged into the ps3's USB port. And it's very sporadic and random. The harddrive seems to disconnect and the ui goes back to the xmb.

Sometimes it doesn't happen for a couple of days, others it happens a minute after turning on and the movie just starts. The drive rebounds almost instantly after it disconnects.

I've tried different usb2 cables and another WD power adapter. Continued to happene unpredictably. The power is plugged into a surge protector power strip.

And help or suggestions ?
