I have a Epson Perfection 1260 scanner and it no longer functions after I installed Lion. Lion appears to not recognise Power PC software. I went to the Epson website and after much difficulty I was able to download the drivers provided. Epson claim on their site that they are for Intel and Power PS Mac computers. Lion will not install them because it sees them as Power PS software which it no longer supports.

I've contacted Epson via email and this is what they replied:

"At this stage there is no indication that Epson is going to release an updated driver for this product and Macintosh 10.7. We suggest that you keep checking the Epson website for any updates."

Helpful eh?

Anyone have any ideas?

I've tried Image Capture but I'm not happy with the colour reproduction from this software.

You're probably stuck with using ImageCapture and the built-in Apple drivers.

Per the Apple printer/scanner support page, the driver for that scanner has "recently" been updated. Have you run Software Update to see if something shows up?

Epson discontinued Epson Scan over a year ago. The latest Epson drivers work with Image Capture. Run Apple's Software Update, if nothing Epson related appears, go to Epson and download their latest ICA driver for your scanner. It will probably work with Lion.

Thanks Thorzdad and Art Vandelay.

Art Vandelay I've been to the Epson web site and downloaded two sets of driver neither of which worked - the PERF1260P_MACOSX_5.7E_EN.SIT and the EpsonScan_MacOSX_27zb.dmg.

What is an ICA driver?

ftp://ftp.epson.com/drivers/epson13969.dmg

It's on the driver page for your scanner model. An ICA driver is a driver for use with Image Capture.

Thanks Art Vandelay.

Image capture works with my scanner so I guess I must have the drivers.
