I am looking to get a very basic analog video input/capture device.

Does anyone have an experience or suggestions?

The Geniatech iGrabber looks sufficient, although I am a bit worried that the included software makes no mention of Snow Leopard compatibility.

On the consumer side, I think the standard is Elgato, namely Elgato Video Capture or Elgato Turbo.264 HD. I personally wouldn't flirt with such low-end products as the one you linked to, but you can try it if you want.

The elgato eyeTV hybrid will also convert analog video and has the additional benefit of being an HD-compatible DVB-C/DVB-T receiver that also does FM radio.

Just to follow-up.
I got the iGrabber from my OP.
The software and hardware seem to be working fine on a 10.6.8 machine.
Settings for the driver look a bit clunky but are functional.

Video quality from VHS input is quite good.

This seems like a good fit for someone looking to transfer in some old VHS. I assume most people have already done that by now, but I am in the stone age...

Since I don't watch much cable or over the air TV and I don't need high quality capture I think the Elgato offerings would have been overkill for me.
