Surprise! When I upgraded to Snow Leopard my HP 6MP stopped working through the Asante link. No more Appletalk. Following the suggestions in this and other forums, I purchased a USB-Centronics parallel cable on Ebay (about $3 with free shipping) and downloaded Gutenberg free. Be sure to download the extra files. At first the Mac wouldn’t recognize the printer at all. After turning it on and off several times, sure enough it showed up in the System Preferences Printer window. When I clicked on the Plus to add, It took me to the set-up window where I selected 6MP and Gutenberg as the driver. Using Generic Postscript printer will not work.
I now print faster through USB and Gutenberg than I ever did with Asante and ethernet.
Total cost -under $3.
I plug the printer USB cord into a USB distribution box rather than into Airport. Easier set-up and I dont not have to change Airport settings.
Do not give up your reliable, economical HP printer when you switch the Snow Leopard.
