I just reloaded the system software on my pismo, upgraded everything to 9.1 and downloaded and loaded the latest palm desktop. Now I cannot sync via ir. I hit the sync button on the palm; the initial screen comes up on the powerbook and then it hangs. I am sure the port settings are correct.

Before the reload everything worked just fine. Does anyone know a solution to this problem?

There are no inherent incompatibilities between 9.1, Palm Desktop, and syncing over IR. I do it all the time. I'd wager that your system has some unrelated problem that syncing over IR is merely the catalyst for.

Thanks for responding. I am not aware of doing anything different with my new setup other than installing 9.1 and the newest version of Palm desktop. It worked before and it doesn't now. Do you have any suspicion as to what that unrelated problem might be?

Thanks again.

This may seem too simple, but can your Pismo see the Palm when you open up the IR control panel? Also, your Hotsync Setup on the laptop needs to be configured for IR.

I've tried those. When I reinstalled the Pakm Desktop, I moved my user data file from the old users folder into the new users folder. Is it possible that I failed to copy over a necessary user specific file related to syncing? I can open the file and view the data in Palm Desktop, I just can't sync it. As I stated before, the sync process begins - I get the initial screen on my laptop - but then it just hangs.

Hotsync Setup is a different program than Palm Desktop. See if you can find it, and make sure it's set right.
