If Apple is indeed offering a $100 rebate on a VisorEdge, isn't that kind of a deathknell for an Apple-branded PDA at this show?

definitely, definitely.

Unless of courseSteve announces tomorrow that Apple's decided to buy Visor. But that is not going to happen.
