i - as many do - hope that one day (sometime soon apple will bring out their own pda.

i think though that it should be more than a pda...a cross between a pda and a "pad" type computer. i posted this link on another thread, but wanted to make it wider known. this is not even a rumor...just some very good work by this guy: one man's dream

i think that if apple were to do this it should include a full complement of ports: usb, firewire, video out, ethernet. and that it should come standard with an airport wireless network card.

imagine this: an apple pad, with color lcd touchscreen, two usb ports, a firewire port, and ethernet, that is wirelessly networked, can be attached to a television for display, is controlled by a stylus/pen, and runs some os x variant or some incredible cross between os x and the newton os

of course im only dreaming...but wouldnt it be great if this one came true??

I agree with a lot of your points. Apple has proved in the past that it can make a handheld computer as opposed to a strict PDA (the Newton 2100). Your list of features is nice, too, but I think that OS X would scale poorly to a handheld. Witness WinCE. Apple already has the makings of a great handheld OS, the Newton OS (the best, in my opinion). Take that and update it for current technology (maybe shine it up with Aqua but keep the Newton metaphors) and you'll have a killer product. Hopefully once the economy comes around, that is exactly what Jobs has planned.
