I have a Palm V series PDA with a serial cradle. In a couple of weeks I'll be travelling abroad and I don't plan on buying an power plug adapter for the cradle, nor do I want to take a large cradle with me anyhow.
I will be having a USB PowerBook (running 9.2) with me on the trip. My main concern is charging the Palm and maybe installing an app once in a while, I wouldn't mind not being able to sync to the PowerBook.
What would you recommend? I have seen a USB HotSync and charger cable on
http://shop.brando.com.hk/p5usbsynccharger.php
but 36$ seems to be quite a lot. If you can recommend this product, I'll go ahead and buy it, but I'd prefer a less expensive solution.

Thanks for your help.

Simon

Simon,

I have a USB Hotsync/Charger from Brando for my Sony Clie 615. It was only $25. I looked at best buy and comp usa before going to brando. I thought I saw a cable for the Palm V at best buy. It may have been for 500/505, but I thought they had both.

I have a USB cable connect my Palm V directly to my ibook. I'd assume all I have to do is to click the sync button. However, it doesn't work. I go to HotSync on my Palm V and can only see "Direct Serial" and "IR to a PC/Handheld". Where is the USB option? My palm os was upgraded to 3.5. Does anyone know what I should do? thanks.

The Palm 4.0 beta (from Palm) has the conduit choice for USB in the hotsync manager menu selection.

Perhaps you might upgrade.
