So I'm looking to replace my venerable V and I've been sniffing around the Sony Clie PEG-N610C. I'm interested in any feedback Mac users might have as to how difficult it is to live with this Windows-centric device...

Thanks!

hmm. ive been looking into a sony PDA to a much more venerable palm iii. the N760 and the new T415 both look pretty nice to me.

the clie (which i think is pronounced clee-ay, which kinda ruins your rhyme/reference) isnt mac compatible at all. you have to download a second party application called the "sony mac pack" (i think thats it) that will replace the palm desktop and make the clie visible on a mac. i dont have a link handy but if you search sony mac pack on google im sure it will lead you in the right direction. i think it costs like 30 dollars which begs the question, is it worth it to pick up a sony?

Actually, the Clie is Mac compatible if you're running the latest Palm Desktop and Palm OS 4. Hop over to some of the forums on Palm Boulevard or PalmInfoCenter and you'll see that this is the case. You don't have full functionality (not that Mac users ever have with Palms....eg Mail and expense), but it seems to work just fine for Hotsync and installing apps.

I am right there with you, but I am holding out until Palm can release something for OSX. Sony just released a color version (T600C) of there smallest PDA (the T-415) in Japan. That model should be here in the US in early 2002. Here are some pics. It seems the color screens on the Sony's are much better than the Palm's color version. If you still use MAC OS9 then you can sync the palm with additional sw as scaught pointed out. Check out Markspace for "the missing sync" software. For me I use OSX heavily so I would like to wait till Palm releases Palm desktop for OSX, and maybe by that time Landware will have there Pocket Quicken 2002 conduit out for OSX, and Sony will have that skinny T600C out.
