Pretty sure Apple did not buy them, and Woz is "still on the board". I read on danger's site that:

The hiptop will be introduced to the consumer market in late Spring 2002.


I also heard that it will run on the Cingular/Voicestream networks.

If anything I hope they offer it in a different color than that hideous orange color.
