What do you guys think is the better of the 2 solutions to get a Sony Clie (peg-n760) to sync with a new g4 imac (and play mp3's too).
1. using the < markspace.com > missing sync software to allow the Clie to sync with the mac os.
2. Using "virtual Pc 5.0 with win95" and just install all the Sony software and palm desktop within windows.
thanks in advance.

That's a no-brainer: use the markspace drivers. Virtual PC is a hassle. By the way my Clie N610c syncs fine right out of the box. I believe that's because it runs Palm OS 4.0. If memory serves, so does the 710. May work fine for general HotSyncing. However, to mount the memory stick on the desktop to transfer MP3s, you'll need the markspace drivers

Definitely go with Markspace.com
I have a S320, and it syncs well most of the time. They should update their drivers because I have been having some trouble recently, my iMac churns when I press the hotsync button, but nothing else happens, so either my USB connection is just bad or there are some bugs. It works fine after I restart the computer a couple of times.

There's no way that I know to automate the transfer of MP3s from iTunes to a Memory Stick like to an iPod. You have to manually copy the files you want from your hard drive onto the Memory Stick mounted on your desktop (which is accomplished with the Markspace Missing Sync drivers).

I've been able to solve this in the past by just unplugging and plugging the Clie's USB cable back in. Best to have it connected directed straight into the iMac, not via the keyboard.

I just got a memory stick reader from Sony and it mounts just fine on my G4 PowerMac's desktop without the Missing Sync drivers. All I have to do is save music as MP3s and drag them over to the memory stick's music folder and they play just fine. The same goes for still photos although I needed Graphic Converter to save them in the proper format before transfering. The folks who developed the Missing Sync software are supposed to be making OS X native drivers so I'll wait until the drivers come out since syncing is not that important to me at the moment.
