I am running Mac OS 10.1.4 and have installed Palm Desktop for OSX. When I try to sync basically the Clie doesn’t even recognise that it is even connected to the machine and it says that a port is being used by something else.
I seem to be able to get it to sync via infrared but not USB.
Has anyone been able to get this to work and could they please let me know how!
Thanks,
David

Yes Please!? Help? I just got the NR70-V and I can not get it to sync to my iMac 800 running the same 10.1.4. Same error as dgold105.
And, I do not have an IRA port to sync with. I am resulting to using VPC 5 w/ Win2000 just to make sure I have a backup and to install the extra Apps that the Sony doesn't install for you.
I have spent a few hours total now looking for a solution for OS X with no luck. I've checked Palm, Sony, PalmBlvd and some other smaller sites for some info, but no luck.
When and if I find something that works I will definitely post it here and at all the other Clie message boards.
any ideas people?

I had hoped that the new models would sync out-of-box with OS X like the recent T- series do, but it sounds like they're behaving like the previous N series (which I have, and love nonetheless).
What we're stuck with is waiting until Markspace (www.markspace.com) receives the code they're "waiting for" from Palmsource (the development side of Palm) so they can update their Missing Sync software for OS X. It looks like it'll be great when it's done, but it's taken MUCH longer than any of us expected so far.
However, the real problem here is Sony, for not being decent enough to provide a puny driver for the damn things... of course, Apple isn't supporting the iPod on Windows either, so I guess it just how the game is played.

Yep, they will not sync out of the box with OS X unless you use infrared or bluetooth.

i read somewhere that sony wasn't going to support mac os x for the CLIe PDAs.... they are doing it to help boost the Vaio portables against the titanium G4s and iBooks <img border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" title="" src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" />

From the MarkSpace web site:
Missing Sync 3.0 (with OS X support) will ship on June 6. Just around and the corner; and it makes my next Palm device purchase decision for me. Has to be the NR70. Graffiti AND keyboard, flip screen and swivel; perfect.

What about an OS9 sync ap? Does it work? I was planning on buying a NR70V, but I want to sink it to my new PowerBook G4 800. Apple eliminated the IR port on the new PowerBooks.
I suppose I could look for an after market IR port.
