I've had this same issue with both my Palm m100 and Sony Cilé T415, with Palm desktop 3.x running in OS 9 and 4 running in X. When I sync most of the time It does a complete reinstall of the software requiring a restart and resets some of my settings. I can't get it to reliably do a normal sync. Any similar problems or solutions for this one out there?

Help!

Thanks

I have the same problem. I believe my is related to Avantgo, so if you have that installed, you could try de-installing that.
Otherwise I've found the trick to be:
- press the hotsync button
- when it has found the right user, and starts to reinstall, cancel the operation
- the palm resets
- then it should be possible to do a normal sync.

Quite an annoying workaround, but you'll get used to it ;-)
