Now that there is a driver for an 802.11 card in the Newton:

Has anyone used this to synch their Newt? What can the software be used for? If I had a Desktop running a Software Base Station, would that work? Anyone with firsthand info, please give us the skinny!

Syncing should work fine. I suggest you take a look at the archives on newtontalk.net. This is a VERY active newsgroup (sometimes in excess of 1000+ messages a month), and they've been talking about it for months now. There have been some problems with the latest beta(3)...I haven't tried it yet, as the earlier beta works fine for me. Still chokes on some larger file transfers, though. It's coming along nicely.

My Airport card works fine with my newton, although the newest version of Palm Desktop has changed the format of its data. no sync...yet.

I've heard about newtontalk.net, but I can't seem to open their web page... maybe their server is down? Thanks for the reply, though. This is great news. It's crazy, but I haven't owned a Newton in almost 5 years. It's like going home and seeing an old friend again. Thanks again,

is anyone using an official apple airport card? I'm thinking of using the silver wavelan--just wondering if anyone has the airport card working and how the antenna attaches (if at all).

also, I get the newtontalk messages all the time and it is very active. From what I can tell, the beta 2 driver works nicely, but there are some problems with beta 3. There might be an updated beta 3 by now though.

Oh--and the newtontalk server *was* down; it's back up now after a restored T1.
