I've heard good things about the Palm i705. You might want to <A HREF="http://palm.com/products/palmi705/"" TARGET=_blank>check it out.</A> CNET doesn't love it much however. I personally have a Sony Clié, but don't use it for email.
Edited 'cause I can't figure out this UBB code crap.

I have been looking at the Handspring Treo 180 over the last month or so. It is an integrated Palm/Phone device which supports SMS messenging (sending messages to cell phones and other devices that support SMS, email, web browsing, address management (and all other Palm applications and activities) PLUS it is also a cell phone (on the Cingular and Voicestream network).
Personal Downsides: No expansion ports and would require that I leave my AT&T service. Also, it costs $399 (but I saw it for $299 at Best Buy this weekend).
You can find out more about the Treo at
at this web page/site.
Let us know what you choose.

I'll be upgrading my PDA next year, and it certainly won't be a Handspring. With handspring you always feel that you should be able to use this or that Palm OSsoftware only to find it isn't compatible. On top of that the desktop is stuck at version 2.6.1, and there's no OSX support. Since my OS 9.X synch has gone belly up again, it would be a great time for OSX support to come and save the day, but it's liek waiting for Godot. Meanwhile on the Palm side they have Desktop 4.0 and OSX support!!
Can't count the times I've had to reinstall ...all those hotsync problems every time you upgrade your MacOS. Bollox to it ...what a pain! No more Handspring for me!

Thanks for all of the suggestions... looks like the Palm is the way to go. However, Earthlink wants a sh*@load of $ for the email capability. Already have dial up, have to open another acct. for the Palm. Stupid.

I bought a Visor Prism because it was the closest to doing what I wanted in a handheld when I got it.
I wanted full color, and internet capabilities. As it stands I don't use an internet device on it. I really wish Palm would release a full color device with internet built in. Internet isn't that great an option because I use a memory module in my Visor, taking up the space that could hold an internet device...
I've also been considering a WinCE device. I found a program which will allow it to sync with a mac: http://www.pocketmac.net/ ...

Wait up!!
Check this out

If I was replacing mine, i'd give something like this serious consideration XP or not expee. I'd also be hoping the Linux boys would get a kernel to work on it in the future, and then you'd have a very OSX -like OS to run on it, instead of blech MS. (How long that would take i've no idea.)

An iPaq with a CF sleeve and a Ricochet card (coming soon to the US, in trials in Colorado) would be the best - PocketPC 2002 blows alwy the Palm OS. Of course, you have to pay for the extra features (movie playback, web browsing that works, Pocket Word, etc)

I was talking to my (pc loving) friend about the Oqo. I told him that it was former Apple employees who designed it (they designed the PB G4). My friend made the comment that they "saw the light" and switched to PC.
I told him that they simply finally found a good use for Windows XP - as a PDA. I said that an XP PDA would be a little better than my current palm device...
