I just got a Newton 2000 upgraded to 2100 and a Mac Connection kit.

I have the serial cable and can buy a serial -> USB adaptor, but how do I connect the serial cable to the Newton?

What is the adaptor called that connects the Newton 2000 to the serial cable? Where do I get one?

The serial adapter for the Newton side of things is called the Interconnect Dongle. You can usually find them on eBay but I also know of an upgrade that adds a serial port where the modem was going to be placed. It's not an upgrade for the feint of heart -- you have to crack the Newt open. Try those avenues.

I'd get the dongle, especially since the keyboard needs it to connect to the Newton. I use an ethernet connection, though, to connect. I think the 3com 589D card is what I have and I got the drivers from www.chuma.org/newton I highly recommend the site.
