Overall I am disappointed with BT.
Set Up:
Palm i705 , Apple iBook, iMac & Ericsson T68i.
BT syncing with a iMac and the i705 it is painfully slow. The three times that I tried to sync it took about 5mins or better, and it never finshed properly. I usually have no problems syncing with the cardle. Am I missing something? And half the time when I try to send SMS from my palm through the T68i it cannot find the phone.
But dialing from the palm address book is another story usually has no problems. I have yet to try the dial up with my iBook, and T68i.

I use GSM Remote on my iBook to sync numbers with my T68i. Setting it up was a little difficult, because my phone manual is a little too brief, but once I got that figured out, it worked as expected.
VoiceStream charges an additional $40/mo to use the phone as a modem... I passed. Anywhere I'd need to use my computer anymore seems to have an 802.11b network (starbucks, airports, offices).
I'm not sure what that file transfer tool is in the BT Preview... it doesn't open anything for me... I guess that's why they call it 'preview 1.0'
Good luck.

How were you able to sync the numbers with the iBook? Is there anyway to manage the names/datebook?
I happen to use Cingular, and the modem rate is 2.99 a month. But the speed is very slow compared to VoiceStream. It should be helpful when I travel.
And I can only dream that the starbucks and such would have a Airport hook up here. I guess I should migrate to a bigger city.

The missing link for me was GSM Remote. It's a shareware app. It allows you to drag and drop from address book to your phone, and vise versa. It's fairly new, but works nicely. You can create new contacts directly in the app, too, so if you don't use an address book, you can still find it useful. It allows you to access SMS and other things, too.
If it could import my Entourage calendar to the phone, I would be in hog heaven... some day.
Note- I had some problems with Entourage contacts, and the author made some revisions. If you have problems with Entourage, e-mail him and ask for the latest preview version.
Good luck.
