Has anyone else tried using the new palm 4,0 software in OSX to sync a visor. I know that Handspring say you should not until they release a specific version but I wanted to try anyway. It works for me but with a couple of bugs. When I sync the operation goes ahead as normal but at the end of the operation I get the following "error" message - "This installer is not compatible with your device. Please contact the manufacturer for a compatible installer". After clicking ok I get a message saying that i can now delete the installer which appears on my visor "desktop"(it is installer 3,5,3). If I delete it however it is simply reinstalled the next time I sync and I get the same error message. Strangely though the sync itself works fine in both directions. has anyone else found a solution to the error message on must I simply wait for the real Handspring version?

Do you have a serial-USB adapter? I have a Palm Pilot with OS X and desktop 4.0 and the problem is the driver for the adapter. It worked in OS 9 because the driver is built for classic. I use the Belkin serial-USB adapter and the box said it was compatible with MacOS and didn't give version numbers. I emailed Belkin and they replied and told me that an OS X driver was in the works but could not tell me when to expect a release.

So if you're not getting error mesages that's most likely the problem. Check the vendor of your adapter and see if they have an OS X driver.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies, sorry I wasn't completely clear. bwilson, no I am not using any type of adaptor, just straight usb to usb. ehunt you gave me an idea, I deleted the folder with the palm os upgrades in it and the problem went away, it seems that the visor found the folder during each sync and tried to upgrade its self!!

Thanks
