I've been using my 2100 for a few weeks now and am VERY happy with it, but I'm running into a problem that I can't figure out:
When I go to check my email (I'm using SimpleMail -- the latest version), my Newton connects to the internet (I get an IP address and everything) but then gets stuck on the "resolving mail.mac.com" message. It hangs that way for a few minutes and then eventually I get the "could not resolve the IP address 'mail.mac.com'" (or something to that effect) error message. If I do a hard reset and then reinstall my old packages, I get my email back for a few days, and then the error comes back. I get a similar error when trying to use Newtscape. Any thoughts? I know that my connection is good, as not only do I get assigned an IP address but also I can browse my local network and print to a networked printer (etc.) with no problems. Please help!

Thanks,
Dieter

Next time that happens, disconnect from internet, go to 'storage drawer' in Extras, delete 'internet DNS cache', reconnect. HTH!

I'll give it a shot -- thanks. In the meantime, that didn't work in this case, because my latest experience with this problem happened before I was able to connect at all; thus there was no DNS storage item. I was able to fix the problem, however -- I went to my iBook and copied down the networking settings, then went to my Internet Setup on my 2100 and manually insterted them. This seems to do the trick. Evidently my server here at work is sending some bogus info. At any rate, thanks for your help.
