Looking for a good PDA and trying to stay away from M$. I need more than a Palm. I'm looking at the Zaurus, but wanted to hear from someone with experience on one. Anyone got any other suggestions besides the Zaurus?

Thanks,
J. McCormick

I got the SL-5500. Am happy with it. Plusses: browser, email, mpeg & mp3 player, word and spreadsheet apps, the keyboard. Drawbacks: no speaker, no microphone. Hope the next version adds these. It doesn't synch w/ Mac yet if you need that. But Trolltech is reportedly ready with OS X Desktop software, and they're waiting for the USB driver recently commissioned by Sharp.

After a short learning curve with CF card, and getting that little USB Microtech Zio CF reader, I can install apps and copy files from the iBook no problem.

I picked up a Newton MP 2100 at about the same time and I just haven't spent as much time with it as with the SL-5500. It's smaller and lighter, the display is easier on my eyes, and it's got the built-in software.

You should try finding a demo unit if you can and testing it out for yourself as well; for example, when I tested it, I absolutely hated the keyboard.
