Don't forget about Sony's MagicLink line! I think they're about four or five years old, but my PIC-1000 still works great for me! Built-in Pocket Quicken, fax out, IR...
See http://www.netsucces.nl/gadget/sony/index.html for more info. (Although I doubt they are still "Available at your local Sony-dealer" as the site says... ) I've seen them on eBay, though, so if you really want one, they're out there...
My only problem is that I can't seem to find software for it anywhere! There are a few small apps out there, but they don't seem to do too much. Can anyone point me to a great FTP site they know of?
And, if you know where I can get a battery for it (Sony NP-500 or NP-500H, I think) without having to ransom my soul (the battery is usually US$60-80!) please let me know!

Thats a cool little machine... I've never seen one. What is the input like on it. (onscreen keyboard?) Does it sync to Mac?
About you search for a battery, you'll probably be looking at the $60-$80 seeing as it is for an older model Sony PDA, especially if you get it directly from the company. But your current battery is on its last legs, I would suggest having a good technician rebuild it for you... they change the cells so its as good as new, and it dosent cost as much as a new pack.

There is a "virtual keyboard" you can pop-up on-screen, or you can buy (if you can find it!) an external Sony MagicLink keyboard that looks really cool. Or, you can connect it to your Mac and use the Mac's keyboard for some serious data entry, but there's a lot of lag involved with that. You use the Mac to install new apps and backup data, as well.
You can place phone calls directly from the MagicLink, just plug in the phone line and tap on the number of the person you want to dial, and presto! it connects you. Plus you get to wear this cool earphone/microphone gizmo!
It's a fine little device, does what I need it to, and I guess that's all you can expect any PDA to do.

Well, I broke the LCD on my MagicLink this past weekend by dropping it off of the counter, so I guess I need to start looking for a new PDA. Man, I was *seriously* ticked off.

Crap that sounds bad.
Well if you're looking for an organizer type pda, a handspring Visor is the way to go.
