I already posted this to the question below, but I feel this warrants it's own post. Although I'm a die-hard Newton 2100 fan (and I am somewhat impressed by the new Pocket PC's!!!), I have been sniffing around the Palm camp (if you can't beat'em, right???) and I was in the same dilemna as others......
......guess what, it seems the best thing out there (for those looking at an expandable Palm with more than 2 mb of memory) would be the TRGPro. It has 8MB of upgradeable ROM on board, but instead of a springboard slot, it uses the nearly universal CF card (which DOES support the IBM 340 MB micro drive).

Give it a look at www.trgpro.com

Good luck

The problem with the TRGpro is the price. While both Palm and Handspring are both selling their 8 MB PDA's for $250, TRG is selling its 8 MB PDA for $330. I don't think a Compact Flash slot is worth an extra $80.

With that said, the TRGpro is a great PDA. If the price matched the Palm IIIxe and Visor Deluxe, I would have gone with the TRGpro.

Hey Adam-

I agree with you (as I noted in my other comment..sorry to repeat this ), there is a price difference, but when you start adding up how much you'll have to pay for those proprietary Springboard modules (like a modem, a backup memory card etc.), you're up to and beyond the price of the TRGPro (which will allow you to buy cheaper CF modems, memory etc.). And don't forget, if you buy a cf memory card, that will hold both your applications and the memory needed, right??
But if you plan on using the visor on it's own (not considering the springboard modules, if and when they become available), and maybe some inexpensive springboard modules get developed, this just might be the right way to go. Again, just a consideration from an old Newton 2100 fanatic.......thanks for listening.

-Dave
