Can you upgrade a Palm V from OS3.3 to 3.5?

I have a Palm V with OS3.3. I have seen the new Palms with OS 3.5 but there doesn't seem to be an upgrade path. Considering all the new features of OS 3.5, I would like to upgrade. It seems like it should be possible given that the OS is stored on an EEPROM.

Why is it that Palm.com is so reluctant to facilitate upgrades to the new OS? Is this their way of urging people to buy yet another Palm?

No, you don't need to buy a new Palm (unless you want Palm OS 3.5 now). It will be available soon, but you'll have to pay $20 for it.
